Beginning Knit

Beginning Crochet

Single-session, 60 minute classes:
Small group lessons limited to five students provide plenty of one-on-one instruction from our awesome teachers. 
Daytime and evening sessions offered. Reserve your time and spot by paying online or in the shop. 
Individual instruction also available; please call the shop at 919 832-3599 to schedule.

 

Knitting Classes:

Holiday gifts are behind you....time to knit something for YOURSELF!!! Pam and staff will help you through this enjoyable, quick-to-knit cardigan that's been all the rage on Ravelry!! 
Single 2-hour classes, $30
Tuesdays, January 15th and March 12, 4:00PM with Barbara
Learn what to do when you make a mistake in your knitting! Barbara will help you not to panic, get “un-stuck,” and consider your options moving forward. Skills covered: making repairs, ripping out and picking up stitches, and “fudging it.” 
A single three-session class, $50
Sundays, January 13, 20, 27, 4:00PM with Beth
This beginning sock class will provide you with all of the techniques you need for making longer socks, with the ease of larger gauge and a not-so-time-intensive project.
A single two-hour class, $30
Fridays, January 18 and 25, 12:00PM with Pam
Learn to knit in the round and use double pointed needles to create a hat that will keep you or a loved-one warm in style! Students should know how to knit and purl.
A single two-hour class, $30
Tuesday, January 22, 4:00PM with Barbara
Learn the “Magic Loop” technique that's so helpful for socks and hats while you're creating this cute and unique gift! Students should be familiar with working in the round and basic knitting stitches.

GROUNDHOG DAY, February 2 Kick-off!
Shadow knitting is a mysteriously simple technique that turns simple garter and stockinette stitch into interesting designs. Our introductory project will be a checkerboard wrap from Rowan, knit in Felted Tweed. Bright or subtle, you choose!

New to stranded knitting? Take this class with Beth to learn strategies and techniques to make the process easier and your projects as lovely as they can be!

Friday February 15, 2pm Kick-off!!
Show your true colors as you join us for some bright, fun knitting! GY staff will provide suggestions for success with your color choices, sweater fit, and stranded knitting techniques....your fellow participants will ooh and ahh as your masterpiece emerges!

Learn the inside-outs of simple lace knitting a create a lovely keepsake for yourself or your Valentine! Students will explore chart knitting and should know how to knit, purl, and be familiar with increasing and
decreasing.
Single two-session class, $40
Thursdays, February 7 and 14, 2:00PM with Pat
Learn how to start a top-down triangle shawl, explore some simple lace techniques, and enjoy your beautiful creation! Using DK weight yarn, you'll be done in a jiffy!
Single two-hour class, $30
Tuesday, March 5, 4:00PM with Barbara
A tiny sock done in a jiffy: start with the toe, turn the heel, and finish with a cute keychain you can tuck in an Easter basket! Students should be comfortable with double-pointed needles or magic loop.

Always wanted to knit a sweater for your man.....or yourself....but a bit intimidated by the size of the project? What could be better than friends to cheer you through to the finish line? The elegant pattern should be interesting for the knitter and handsome on the wearer.



Crocheting:

Single two-session class
January 18 and 25, 2:00PM
Finished a dishcloth and maybe a scarf? Learn to crochet in the round and create a hat of just about any size for you or a loved-one. Students should know how to do single- and double-crochet stitches.
Single three-hour class, $35
Tuesday, February 26, 5:00PM with Lisa
Learn about freeform, try out techniques, and discuss plans for freeform projects. This workshop will accommodate beginners and experienced freeformers, with everything in between. Lots of samples for inspiration.

March 6, 13, 20, 2:00PM with Pam
Perfect for our bright and spring-like gradient cakes! Learn how to read a crochet chart and stitch up a wrap that will be just the thing to wear with your Easter Bonnet or other warm-weather apparel...
