Great Yarns is the Little Yarn Shop That Could!

When you walk through our pink door, you are entering one of the oldest yarn shops in North Carolina.  We have been a LYS since 1986, and have participated as the industry has grown and changed to meet the needs of fiber artists of all types.

Pam and Hank became the fourth owners of the shop in 2017.  The pandemic years were challenging, but we were grateful that our shop motivated and sustained so many of us, thanks to our wonderful customers, helpful staff, and talented suppliers.  We can help you to learn and grow as a knitter or crocheter through structured classes for all levels, personalized help, the excitement of a Knit or Crochet Along…or simply just the inspiration of stitching in the company of other creative people.

The beautiful colors and textures on our shelves represent current trends and include natural fibers from flora to fauna in a variety of weights, personalities, and price points.  Knitting, crocheting and weaving should be accessible to everyone!  

At Great Yarns, we are more than just the name suggests!  We are a fabulous community of fiber enthusiasts who are friends, supporters, and encourages of our shared craft.
