Knitted Knockers are a soft, comfortable, knit prosthetic for breast cancer survivors. Breast cancer is the most common cancer found in women worldwide. Most of us know someone close to us who has been affected. The teacher, Lacey McWatters, has made more than 400 knitted knockers and with the help of other local knitters has donated 750 to local hospitals and charities in the triangle area over the last 4 years.
Double point needles are recommended, but magic loop can be easily used as well. Knitters (and crocheter) of all skill levels are welcome. Needles and yarn can be purchased at the shop. Cost is just $10 plus materials.
